Hi Stella .. My mother & I spent a couple of short breaks visiting friends in Nienstedten staying in the hotel Louis C Jacob http://www.hotel-jacob.de – it was exceptional: fantastic hotel, first class service, really interesting historically – there’s an ice cellar, used originally in the smuggling days of the 1800s – when the Elbe was & still is a main waterway to the heart of Europe via the incredible deep water port of Hamburg. I have hankerings to go back .. especially as our young friends live there!
I’ve also spent some amazing times in some of the safari guest houses, or camps in South Africa, Namibia & Botswana.
Just been lucky – but I encourage everyone to try the personal touch .. people’s homes .. Ilike the post on the Design Hotels .. interesting to have that knowledge – thank you.
